FC Ploieşti get star struck

FC Ploieşti were promoted from Serie 1 and in July 2009 renamed themselves FC Astra Ploieşti.

CS Pandurii escape, FC Internaţional sink

* Although CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu finished in the relegation places, their place was taken by FC Internaţional Curtea de Argeş who had finished 12th. FC Internaţional had to withdraw from the 2010/11 Liga I season due to financial reasons.

Liga II structure

The Liga II is split into two divisions of 18 teams, called Serie 1 & Serie 2. The winner and runner-up of each division is automatically promoted to the Liga I.
