Although Juventus actually finished first in the 2005/06 season, they were relegated with no points due to match fixing allegations. AC Milan finished second, but were deducted 30 points for also being involved in the match fixing scandel. Consequently Inter Milan who were in third, with 76 point, were appointed champions.

The teams finishing 1st & 2nd in Serie B are promoted automatically.

* The teams finishing 3rd - 6th go into the play-offs for the final promotion place, unless there is a 10 point difference between 3rd and 4th, in which case 3rd place gets automatic promotion.

As the 2nd leg was still level after extra time, the team finishing higher in the league, Torino FC, were promoted to Serie A for 2006/07 season.
