Notes on naming conventions
I've tried to be consistent with the names of teams on this page, but in some cases I've referred to them by their English rather than their native name. All the differences are listed below to help with any confusion or arguments that arise from this page.
- 1961: Feijenoord are, as you probably guessed, Feyenoord. They changed the spelling of their name in 1971 as the ij in Dutch is pronounced as y internationally. Their stadium is still called Stadion Feijenoord, although most people refer to it as De Kuip, which translates as The Tub in English. If you've been there you'll know why. I've kept the reference as Feijenoord for the sake of accuracy.
- 1962: Prague is the English translation for Praha. So strictly speaking it should be Dukla Praha.
- 1967: Hajduk Split are commonly referred to as HNK Hajduk or just Hajduk in Croatia.
- 1967: The full French name for Olympique Lyon is Olympique Lyonnais.
