* Spurs were banned from playing two European games at White Hart Lane after fans rioted inside Feyenoord's De Kuip stadium during the final. This ban wasn't implemented as it was 7 years before Spurs qualified for Europe again.

Notes on naming conventions
I've tried to be consistent with the names of teams on this page, but in some cases I've referred to them by their English rather than their native name. All the differences are listed below to help with any confusion or arguments that arise from this page.
- 1971: Rapid Bucuresti refers to Bucharest.
- 1972: AC Milan are generally known as Milan in Europe, in the same way as Inter Milan are generally referred to as Internazionale.
- 1972: For non English people Wolves refers to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
- 1972: FK Crvena Zvezda are more well known in English speaking countries as Red Star Belgrade.
- 1973: Vitória FC are also sometimes known as Vitória de Setúbal.
- 1973: Grasshopper Club Zürich are more often referred to as GC or Grasshopper in Switzerland.
- 1974: 1.FC Köln in English would be Cologne FC.
