Notes

  •  1: Initially known as the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup the first two competitions were played over 3 years, when trade fairs were in European cities. From the 1960/61 season it was staged annually.
  •  2: Feyenoord changed the spelling of their name from Feijenoord in 1971.
  •  3: In the 1971/72 season the name was changed from the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup to the UEFA Cup.
  •  4: Known as the European Cup when founded in 1955, the competion changed to the Champions League in season 1992/93.
  •  5: Winners of domestic cup competitions around Europe entered the European Cup Winners' Cup, from season 1960/61. It was discountinued after the 1998/99 season, with the domestic cup winners now entering the UEFA Cup.
  •  6: In the 2009/10 season the UEFA Cup changed name and format to become the Europa League.
