RSS feed

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a way to track news and other syndicated content using XML.

RSS feed

You have probably seen this button on websites such as the BBC news site. What it means basically is that you can subscribe to any site which has these feeds and every time the content on the section you’ve subscribed to is updated, you will be notified. Effectively it means you save time, as if you are subscribed to 30 different sites, you won’t have to visit each and every one of them to see what is new.

To do this all that is required is that you have a reader, which will check all the sites you subscribe to. A good free reader is Bloglines, but there are loads more, check here for a list.

Some popular ones are listed below

Bloglines newsgator Google reader Yahoo reader
