PSV (Part-time Soccer Veiwers)

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

As a Spurs fan, I can’t really drum up any sympathy for Arsenal being dumped out of the Champions League by PSV tonight.
But I have to say I did feel a little sorry for the team, when The Emirates virtually emptied after PSV had scored their equaliser. I mean there was still 7 mins plus injury time (3 mins as it turned out) for Arsenal to score 2 goals and go through. Isn’t that the time to get behind the team and try and roar them into action? Don’t tell me it was an impossible task as Man Utd managed to do it in the 1999 final.
It’s all very well having a 60,000 stadium, but if half of them are going to piss off when the team needs them most, what’s the point?! Better to have a packed noisy Highbury with 10 mins left, than a half empty soulless stadium isn’t it?
I suppose Arsenal fans can do what Spurs fans have had to do for the last 10 years and watch us in the hope we’ll get knocked out! Nice to see Spurs are STILL the most successful London club in Europe (see this page for details), 1 Cup Winners’ Cup, 2 UEFA Cups and another one on the way :)

SC Braga v Spurs

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

So Tottenham have got SC Braga and a nice trip to Portugal in the UEFA Cup Round of 16. The Estádio Municipal de Braga is one of the most memorable stadiums from Euro 2004, with one side of the ground being carved out of the surrounding rock face and the other overlooking the city of Braga.

It’s a pity Spurs couldn’t play Feyenoord in the last round, as they have a great European tradition with them and the record (won 2, lost 2) might have been improved.

Apparently SC Braga are known as Arsenal do Minho, ever since one of their coaches saw Arsenal in the 30’s and made them change their strip to Arsenal’s red and white. Maybe Spurs finally have a chance to beat Arsenal this season, well a version of them anyway :) If it’s anything like their last meeting in 1984/85 UEFA Cup it should be good, the aggregate score was 9-0 to Spurs! See the Spurs in Europe page for full European details.

Spurs in Europe

Friday, October 27th, 2006

I’ve added an interactive map of Tottenham Hotspur’s full history in Europe, just because I can really. I’ll be adding a similar map for Pompey just as soon as I can find a map of the Isle of Wight :)

Count Defoe, Prince of darkness

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

So Jermaine Defoe has a comedy nibble on Mascherano eh?

It’s only the start of Martin Jol’s cunning plan to convert Spurs to the dark side. Thursday, 14th December 2006, Dinamo Bucuresti (Romania), White Hart Lane. The secret weapon is primed and ready to go …Jermaine Defoe is ready

Premiership/La Liga websites image rollover map

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Nine new css image rollover maps have been added to the site. They are European league sites including the English Premiership, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A football maps. Hover reveals the teams badge and also a tooltip with the teams domestic and European trophy wins. Clicking on the badge will take you to the teams website.

I hope to be updating the Spurs trophy tooltip this season, but after the first 3 games, it’s looking a bit unlikely!! Please God don’t let Pompey finish above us.

England 1-0 Equador

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

I’ve never seen a room of people look so depressed after an England win. Surely they can play better than this. If not we deserve to go out.

Who ate all the pies?

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

Ronaldo walks into a Burger King and asks for two Whoppers.
The assistant thinking quickly says “You’re not fat and you can still score goals”

Sweden 2-2 England

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Nice goal by Joe Cole, errrr struggling to find anything else positive.

Will be shocked if we get past the Quarter Final stage. Am applying for Dutch citizenship.

England 2-0 Trinidad & Tobago

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Watched this for 83 mins frustrated and mildly embarrassed, this is after all the team that Sven tells us will win the World Cup.

The only plus was seeing Rooney come on and imagining Alex Ferguson’s face going purple with rage. HA!

Oh and the laugh out loud Crouch effort in the first half. Still, he scored eventually. Had to pull the T&T defenders dreadlocks off to do it though.

What’s the plan F then Sven?
